What is women’s health?

Women’s health at Your Wellness Sources includes prevention, disease screening, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions many women face. Your specialist works with women who struggle with:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Heart disease
  • Breast, cervical, or ovarian cancers
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Menopause symptoms
  • Low libido
  • Hot flashes
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Mood swings
  • Night sweats
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Other mental health conditions

Your Wellness Sources providers are highly trained in all areas of women’s health and can refer you to a skilled specialist, if needed, to ensure exceptional outcomes.

They offer chronic disease management, birth control, Pap tests, mammograms, and other breast cancer screenings — including screening for high-risk genetic mutations, such as BRCA 1 and 2 genes.

Early detection and treatment are the best ways to beat disease and reduce your risk of serious medical complications.

What should I expect during women’s health exams?

During women’s health exams at Your Wellness Sources, your specialist welcomes you and offers the following:

Vital signs check

Your provider weighs you, assesses your body mass index (BMI), and checks your pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs.

Medical history review

Your women’s health specialist completes a medical history review by asking questions about your lifestyle habits, symptoms, personal and family medical history, and medication regimen.

Physical exam

During a women’s health exam, your provider listens to your heartbeat and assesses your breathing, abdomen, reflexes, and more. They offer breast exams to screen for breast cancer and a pelvic exam and Pap test to screen for cervical cancer.

Diagnostic testing

Your women’s health specialist could recommend diagnostic tests, including urine testing, blood tests, mammograms, bone scans, or other diagnostic procedures. They offer psychiatric assessments to evaluate your mental health.

Treatment

If you’re in good health, you likely don’t need any treatment. Your Wellness Sources offers birth control, vaccinations, medically supervised weight loss, medication prescriptions, and specialist referrals. They provide mental health treatments, such as counseling, psychiatric medication management, and addiction treatment.

When should I schedule women’s health exams?

Unless your provider recommends more frequent visits because of a disease or other medical problems, schedule a woman’s health exam and disease screening each year. Call Your Wellness Sources if you have questions or concerns about your health or develop new or unusual symptoms.
